Abstract

363,512. Su.b-station antiside-tone circuits. SIEMENS BROS. & CO., Ltd., Caxton House, Tothill Street, and WIGAN, E. R., 18, Cambridge Road, Lee, both in London. Dec. 30, 1930, No. 39161. [Class 40 (iv).] In an antiside-tone circuit of the type described in Specification 263,211, [Class 40 (iv), Telephones &c.], in which a transformer is connected across the transmitter and receiver, a resistance is added to the receiver circuit, the value of the resistance being equivalent to the resistance component of the line impedance with which the instrument is designed to operate. As shown in the Figure, M is the antiside-tone transformer, Sl and P1 the induction coil secondary and primary respectively and X is the added resistance. This resistance may be a separate unit which may be mounted with the condenser C to form a three-terminal unit, may be obtained by winding the induction coil secondary with resistance alloy wire or may be mounted on the bobbin of the transformer M to make a fiveterminal unit. Circuits using the invention with automatic type instruments are shown in the Specification, and, when used with such instruments, the resistance may be connected to prevent the transient voltages produced during dialling from tinkling the calling bell.
