Abstract

362,616. Tufting-machines. FAIRWEATHER, W., 65, Chancery Lane, London.-(Singer Manufacturing Co.; Elizabeth, New Jersey, U.S.A.) Nov. 7, 1930, No. 33494. [Class 112.] Means for varying the height of free pile loops formed in a tufting machine comprise an eccentric member 39 which is turned by a crank 41 to vary the height of a knife 22. The free pile loops are pulled by a hooked needle 9 through the fabric B, up to the cutting edge 23 of the knife, where they are cut at the centre. The extent of the turning movement of the crank 41 is varied as required by the vertical adjustment of aT-bolt 27 in a slot 25 of the feeding foot 18. This adjustment determines the position of a stop screw 31 in a slot 32 in the knife. Specifications 358,326 and 362,615 are referred to.
