Abstract

362,159. Roller-and-breast grinding or crushing mills. SODER, O., Niederlenz, Argovie, Switzerland. Dec. 4, 1930, No. 36609. Convention date, Dec. 7, 1929. [Class 59.] In a roller-andbreast mill in which the breast 2, Fig. 1, is urged against the roller 1 by a spring 9 adjustable by a hand-wheel 7, the fi n e adjustment being regulated by a supplementary hand-wheel such as 12 which is screwed on to the spindle 11 and bears directly on the handwheel 7, a short counter-compression spring 13 is inserted on the spindle between the two handwheels to increase the sensitivity and damping of the spring 9. The breast 2 is mounted on arms 3 pivoted to the frame of the mill and a bar 6 also mounted in the frame carries levers 4 which are pivoted at 5 to the arms. The free end of the lever carries a boss 8 screwed to receive the hollow spindle 7a integral with the hand-wheel 7. The spindle 11 is connected to the breast and passes through the hollow spindle 7a and forms the means for compressing the springs 9, 13. Coarse adjustment of the block is effected by the hand-wheel 7 and fine adjustment by the hand-wheel 12 ; the latter may be locked in position by a nut 16.
