Abstract

183,215. Leubli, C. F. April 14, 1921. Roller mills. - In a grinding-mill in in which one of the rollers is mounted in movable lever bearings provided with a pressure device and an adjusting-shaft with eccencentric journals and a hand-lever, an auxiliary adjustable resilient connection is provided acting either between the hand lever and the adjusting-shaft or on the lever when this is fast to the shaft. In one form the lower grinding-roller W<2>, Fig. 1, is mounted in lever bearings U which are pivoted at X and suspended by means of rods i and pressure springs K from the eccentric journals at the ends of the adjusting- shaft b. The adjusting-lever a is rigidly connected with the shatf b, and a hand-lever c mounted on pins c<2> on the framing is secured to the framing by a pawl d so that it can be readily fixed or released to separate the rollers W<1>, W<2>. A regulating-screw e is screwed into a nut c<1> on the lever c, and the auxiliary spring f is located in a casing d<1>, pivoted on the lever a, and bears against a collar on the screw e. Wheels g, h are provided for operating the screw e and for adjusting the pressure of the spring f respectively. In a modification, Fig. 3, the levers a, c are both arranged upon the shaft b, the levers a being keyed to the shaft and the lever c loose but connectible by a pawl d<1> to a catch o on the framing. The regulating screw e is screwed into a nut a<1> on the lever a, and the casing m and auxiliary spring f are mounted on the lever c. A handle d is provided for releasing the pawl d<1>. Fig. 5 shows the spring and screw connections of the levers a, c provided with a scale l for the control of the rollers and the grinding-presures. A pointer l<1> fixed to the nut a' of the lever a slides in a slot in the scale l, the support for which is fixed to the casing m mounted on the lever c. In a modified arrangement, a segment a is loosely mounted upon the adjusting-shaft b, and the auxiliary spring f bears against a fixed part of the framing and is adjustable by means of a button h. The handlever c, in this form, is keyed on the shaft b and is mounted at the side of the segment a, which at the side opposite the arm containing the spring f bears against an abutment on the framing. A device g is provided for clamping the lever c to the segment. As shown in Fig. 7, the auxiliary spring is a tension spring arranged upon one end of the shaft b and connected at one end to the shaft and at the other end to a sleeve r carrying a lever p which is adjustably connected by a connecting-rod e<1> and hand-wheel h to a lever q keyed to the shaft b, a lever a keyed to the sleeve r being similarly connected by a rod e<2> and hand-wheel g to the hand-lever c loose on the shaft b and adapted to be secured by a pawl to the frame. Fig. 8 shows the levers a, c separately mounted, the hand-lever c being secured by the pin o and pawl d and the adjusting-lever a connected with the lever c by means of a screw e engaging the nut e<1>, the casing m and auxiliary spring f being mounted on the lever c.
