Abstract

362,083. Bilge pumps for boats. KITCHEN, J. G. A., Brookfield Stors, Windermere, Westmorland. Oct. 11, 1930, No. 30454. [Class 102 (i).] In a bilge &c. pump the suction valve 6 has an elongated stem 7 extending into the hollow pistonrod 8 and having a piston 10 loosely fitting the interior of the rod. Liquid is admitted to the interior of the piston-rod by a perforation 16, and the valve 6 is operated with a dashpot action by the reciprocation of the pump piston. Alternatively the piston 10 may fit the piston-rod bore and have a through passage. The pump piston has a plate valve 12, the travel of which is limited by a collar 13.
