Abstract

361,044. Two-part couplings. ATWOOD, E. E., Fitchburg, Massachusetts, U.S.A. Sept. 15, 1930, No. 27564. [Class 38 (i).] To prevent the members of a twopart coupling from being pulled apart the base part has angular grooves in which contacts are mounted and the removable part has prongs suitably shaped to enter these grooves and make connection with the contacts. The base part 11 has an extension 14 in which is clamped an insulating block 18 carrying U-shaped contacts 22 which enter recesses 17 with which connect L-shaped grooves 15. A ridge-like projection 24 on the base 11 engages a corresponding recess in the block 18 to prevent relative movement. In a modification the block 29 is removed and the rods 20, 21 terminate in plug-pins. In a further modification for wall mounting the rods 20, 21 have binding posts for the connection of leads ; and the base 11 is provided with a metal shield and apertures for the entrance of the connector prongs.
