Abstract

360,370. Electric hand-lamps. CONRADI, E. S., 6, Rosebery Avenue, London. July 29, 1930, Nos. 22781 and 38861. [Class 39 (ii).] In electric hand-lamps of the type wherein the lamp-holder is surrounded by a shroud of insulating material and provision is made to prevent a pull upon the cable being transmitted to the terminal connections on the lamp-holder the shroud is provided with an aperture in its side wall for the entry of a flexible cable and has on its exterior a jamming device in which the cable is gripped. In one form the shroud comprises three portions 14, 15, 17, Figs. 1 and 2, of which the portions 14, 15 are adapted to be secured together by screws 16 extending therethrough into one limb 11 of a handle of the spring-grip type, the portion 17 being secured by a screw-threaded portion 18 thereon engaging within a flange in the portion 15. The lampholder 19 comprises a flanged metal tube with bayonet slots 20, fitted upon an insulating-plate 23 which is held within a recess in the portion 15 by a screw-threaded retaining-ring 24. To enable the ring 24 to be secured tightly in position it is formed with ribs 28 .which are adapted to engage within recesses 29 in the front edge of the member 17, so that the latter can be used as a turning-key. The lateral aperture 26 for the entry of the cable is formed partly in each of the adjacent members 14, 15, and a fairlead 27 also formed by the co-operation of the two members is made large enough to enable two laps of cable to be passed therethrough. A passage 35 for an earthing-lead is formed in the member 14, and earthing-terminals 34 are provided on the limb 11 and on a lug 32 which secures a wire lamp-guard 30 in position. In a modification the lamp-holder is provided with a screwthreaded lamp socket.
