Abstract

846,401. Masking devices. RIVLIN, J. June 27, 1958 [March 28, 1957], No. 10128/57. Class 75(4). A masking device for electric light fittings having a bowl shaped or similar reflector or shade consists of a plurality of rings arranged one within the other and mounted so as to be edge on to the light source, the rings being asymmetric to the lamp or the reflector or both and being secured together only at one point so as to form a spring assembly. As shown, the device may be constructed by winding a metal strip 1 into a succession of rings secured together at a single point by rivets 3. Lugs 4 mounted to one side of the mid-plane of the device may be provided for mounting it e.g. in a recess in a ceiling above which the lamp and reflector are located.
