Abstract
359,871. Screwing die-heads. MANNESMANNRÍHREN-WERKE, 1B, Berger Ufer, D³sseldorf, Germany. April 2, 1931, No. 10116. Convention date, April 7, 1930. [Class 83 (iii).] Die-heads with pivoted chaser carriers have the carriers arranged to rotate to bring either preliminary or finishing chasers into the cutting position. The carriers b retained in position by a cover plate f carry sets of chasers d, c and are connected through pins, slots and springs k, l with heads on spindles e geared at g to a hand-wheel h with index bolt i. After indexing to bring the set of chasers into operative position, final adjustment to the correct cutting position is obtained from a yoke-operated sliding ring m carrying cams o, the slots &c. k, l permitting this adjustment. The chasers may be arranged radially, or tangentially or for taper threading and either the die-head or the work may be stationary.
