Abstract
359,524. Roll-film cameras. HOUGHTON-BUTCHER MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., Fulbourhe Road, Walthamstow, London, DENNISS, A. J., The Langdales, Connaught Avenue, Chingford, Essex, and EDWARDS, V. W., 69, Ulverston Road, Walthamstow, London. July 18, 1930 No. 21776. [Class 98 (i).] In a film camera in which the film is wound on setting the rollerblind shutter, the filmw i n d i n g mechanism being disconnected from the shutter-setting means before the shutter is fully set, means cooperating with the film spool are provided to ensure that a constant length of film is wound on each operation. As applied to mechanism such as described in Specification 328,952, [Class 98 (i), Photographic cameras &c.], in which a displaceable gear 16 between the shutter spindle 12 and the film spool gear 14 is mounted on a rocking arm 15, the instant at which a cam 26 on the shutter winding wheel 10 disconnects the gear 16 from the film winding wheel 14 is controlled by the position of an interposed wedge 22. This wedge is freely mounted on a pivoted arm 21, the other end 18 of which rests on the outer surface of the film wound up, and thereby controls the position of the wedge as the diameter of the wound film increases. An additional interposed rocker arm 24 with a rounded projection 25 may also be interposed to ensure that the action of the cam 26 is always transmitted substantially normally to the wedge, thereby minimizing friction.
