363,896. Kinematograph projection printing. DEBRIE, A. L. V. C., 111, Rue St-Maur, Paris. Feb. 20, 1931, No. 5412. Convention date, Dec. 20, 1930. [Class 98 (i).] In a method of varying the scale of a positive kinematograph film during printing the projection part or the receiving part is moved without interrupting the printing operation and the projection lens is correspondingly displaced through the agency of a cam arrangement. As shown in Fig. 1 the device is provided with a cam adapted for reduction. The projection apparatus 1, 3 through which passes the film 2 slides in the slot 4 in the support 5, and is provided with an arm 6 carrying a stud 7 engaging a cam-groove or slot 8 pivoting about the fixed point 10. The printing apparatus 11 carrying the film 12 to be exposed is fixed at the other end of the support 5. The lens-holder 13 sliding in the groove 4 carries a stud 15 engaging the straight slot 16. The cam is controlled by the weight 19 attached to the cord 17, which passes over pulley 18 and is attached to the lens-holder 13. The projection apparatus may be moved to the required position by means of a screw and nut mechanism. As shown in Fig. 2, the device is provided with a cam adapted for enlarging. The projection apparatus 1 carries an arm 20 on which pivots at 21 the bell-crank lever 22, one arm of which carries a stud 23 engaging the stationary cam groove or slot 24 while the other has a small slot 26 engaging a projection 27 of the lens-holder 13. The same cams 9 and 25 may be used with projection lenses of different focal lengths by modification of the length of the levers by which the lens support is moved. The ratio of magnification or reduction may vary in a continuous manner during printing. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the application to photographic films. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
