Abstract
359,140. Heating feedwater; hot water storage apparatus. MARGUERRE, F., 32, Augusta Anlage, Mannheim, Germany. Sept. 10, 1930, No. 27084. Convention date, Sept. 24, 1929. [Classes 64 (i) and 123 (ii).] In a power plant comprising a number of engines T, T<1> from which tapped steam is taken to heat the feed supply to the boiler D, separate regulated feed heating and storage apparatus S, V is associated with each engine. Feed is circulated from the lower part of a storage tank S by a pump U through a heater V supplied with heating steam from a. turbine T and back to the top of the storage tank through a valve R controlled in accordance with the load on the turbine. Upon a decrease in load,. the valve R is opened thus increasing the quantity of water passing through the heater and the quantity of tapped steam flowing to the heater from the turbine. The steam and water supply pipes of the heaters V, V<1> are so connected by pipes containing shut-off valves F, H that if one of the heaters, say the heater V, is cut off by closing its steam supply valve E, water from the pump U may pass into the other heater V<1> by opening the valve H, and steam from the turbine T may flow to the other heater by opening the valve F.
