Blades etc.; heating parts.-To prevent the formation of rust in turbines when at rest, a heating element is placed within the turbine or its steam conduits so that upon each stoppage of the turbine the air or gas circulating round the inner members thereof is heated. Preferably, the heating element consists of a steam coil connected with the boiler, and the steam may flow through it either continuously or only when the turbine is at rest. Thus, a valve 22, Fig. 2, is adapted to shut off steam from the turbine inlet 24 and direct it through a pipe 23 to a heating element 8 in the turbine outlet 5. The heating element may be mounted entirely or in part in the condenser.
