Abstract

[Also in Division F4] In a power plant, vapour, e.g. steam, from a boiler 1 passes through a pipe 3 to a power generator 4, e.g. a turbine. The exhaust from the generator and liquid supplied from the boiler through a pipe 7 are returned to the boiler through one or more injectors 6, a pipe 8 and a clack valve 9. The boiler may be heated by a thermostatically-controlled electric immersion heater 2 or oil-fired furnace. Vapour and liquid flow control valves 10, 11 are provided. Additional heating or superheating may be provided at 2a either by electric or combustion means. When a number of injectors are used valves may be included to shut-down one or more injectors when the generator is operating at low power. Means (not shown) to replenish leakage may include auxiliary injectors or a gravity feed. An overflow pipe 6a may contain a valve. The boiler may contain a liquefied gas, e.g. methyl chloride, or carbon dioxide dissolved under pressure in water or other liquid.
