[Class 122 (i).] A piston head is formed with a coaxial groove d to obstruct the flow of heat toward the portion b carrying packing rings. The groove may be filled with asbestos or like heat insulating material and may be sealed at its outer end by a metal ring f riveted or screwed therein.
