Abstract

358,103. Washing gases. CORNER, G. H. C., Norton Hall, The Green, Norton-on- Tees, and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., Millbank, London. July 4, 1930, No. 20301. [Class 55 (ii).] In the removal of dust from flue gases by passage of the gas between vertical baflle-plates down which a film of water is directed, for example asdescribed in Specification 321,268, [Class 55 (ii) Gas manufacture &c.], several sets of baffle-plates each bent along a vertical line are employed, and the angles of the bends diminish from set to set in the direction of gas flow. The first set may be bent at an angle of 120‹, the next at 105‹, and the next at 90‹, and preferably the velocity of the gas does not exceed 12 feet per second, as set forth in Specification 358,101. Water distributing means as described in Specification 358,102 may be used.
