Abstract
357,619. Knitting-machines. HOLMES, H. H., LEEDHAM, L. H., and WILDT & CO., Ltd., Adelaide Works, Leicester. June 18, 1930, No. 18611. [Class 74 (ii).] To enable the length of loop to be changed gradually, particularly in silk or artificial silk hose, reduction gearing is provided between the cam for adjusting the relative height of the knitting-cams and the needles, and the driving means therefor. The knitting-cam block is secured to a slide 11 which is adjusted by a lever 16 resting upon the adjusting cam 14. The cam 14 may be driven either directly by a ratchet wheel 23 and pawl 31, when abrupt change of loop is required, or by a second ratchet wheel, not shown, and pawl 30, when gradual change is desired. The second ratchet wheel is connected to the cam 14 by epicyclic reduction gearing. A second lever 51, controlled by lugs 50 upon a pattern drum 49, may be provided for holding the slide 11 in its highest position independently of the lever 16 and cam 14.
