Abstract

1,188,963. Knitting-machines. M. TRAUMULLER. 31 May, 1967 [2 March, 1967], No. 25174/67: Heading D1C. The rate of fabric take-up of the take-up roller in a warp knitting machine is varied to cause variation of the loop length to be achieved whereby fabrics having shaped effects in the form of narrow and wide portions of a flat warp knitted fabric or portions of varying diameters in the case of tubular warp knitted fabrics can be achieved. The take down roller is driven from a ratchet wheel 28 rotated periodically by a pawl 24 operated from an adjustable eccentric in a block 19. The pawl is adapted to be wholly or partially bluffed by a plate 56 having a bluffing edge 57 so that the pawl can advance the wheel 28 different amounts and thereby vary the rate of take up of the fabric. The control of the plate 56 is achieved by a pattern chain 42 which depending on the pattern links raises a rod 51 to rotate the plate 56 onto one or other positions whereby it controls the pawl 24.
