Abstract

A warp knitting machine is fed with a layer of yarns which pass over a series of tensioning bars. At least one of the tensioning bars rotates and has a profiled surface to produce different tensions in different yarns in a set pattern defined by the profile. Using bars with different profiles, a variety of different knitted patterns can be produced easily.
