Abstract

1353183 Pile fabrics TEXTILAUSRUSTUNGS-GES SCHROERS & CO 30 April 1971 [30 April 1970 26 Feb 1971] 12401/71 Heading D1K [Also in Division B6] A pattern is produced upon the pile side of pile fabrics and pile hosiery by covering with a template formed with apertures corresponding to the desired pattern, applying hot air from the side of the template away from the pile and then removing the covering. The pile side may comprise mixtures of polyamide and polyvinyl chloride fibres, or of mixtures of polyacrylonitrile fibres of different shrinkability. The fabric may be coloured before covering with the template. Fabrics consisting at least partially of synthetic fibres may be tinted after removing the template. The template may be heated to above the temperature of the hot air applied, or alternatively may be maintained at a temperature below that of the hot air. The fabric during the hot air treatment may be locally subjected to surface smoothing by the template bearing flat thereon; and optionally moved relative to the template during the flat contact. In a continuous treatment, the intensity of the hot air may vary with time. As shown in Fig. 4 the template consists of a rotatable cylinder 2 arranged above fabric 1 and provided with a circular aperture 4. Hot air issues from nozzle tube 8 stationarily arranged in the cylinder 2. Fabric 1 is arranged upon endless conveyor belt 7, adjusting devices being provided to adjust the distance from the cylinder barrel 3 to fabric 1 and the distance of nozzle tube 8 from the cylinder barrel 3. In another embodiment the template may be a perforated foil.
