Abstract

1,091,050. Pile fabrics. NAHWIRKMASCHINENBAU MALIMO KARL-MARX-STADT VEB. Dec. 3, 1964, No. 49210/64. Headings D1C, DIG and D1K. A pile fabric is produced by knitting through or chain stitching together two webs 4, 5 and subsequently removing the web 4 which is nearest the ends of loops 11. In a weft knitting machine the fabric webs 4, 5 may be held further apart than is shown in Fig. 3 to produce a longer pile loop 11a. The fabric may be produced on a warp knitting machine as a tricot or chain stitch effect. The fabric web 4 may be used a number of times or may be formed of a water soluble polyvinyl compound. A grooved roller or a bar may be used to disengage the loops to remove the web 4.
