357,513. Safety-control of winding- engines. SIEMENS-SCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.-GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. May 16, 1930, No. 15102. Convention date, May 18, 1929. [Class 78 (v).] Control gear for a three-phase winding-engine, in which the lever 11 for resetting the emergency brake is locked until the motor control lever 15 is brought in neutral position and the motion-brake lever 13 is in the brake-fast position, is arranged so that after resetting the emergency brake and returning the lever to its normal position, the motor control lever and the motion-brake lever can be moved independently for starting and controlling the winding gear. While the emergencybrake lever is moved out of its normal position for re-setting the brake, the motor-control lever and the motion-brake lever are locked. Specification 10600/11, [Class 78 (v), Winding and paying- out apparatus &c.], is referred to. As shown in Fig. 1, the lever 11 is in its normal position, the emergency brake having been applied automatically or by hand. The motion-brake lever 13 is " off " and the motor-control lever 15 is " on." Levers 19, 17 on a spindle 18 engage respectively with a slot 16 on the lever 15 and with an abutment 11a on the lever 11 so that the lever 11 cannot be moved in the direction of the arrow until the lever 17 is turned downwards. An arm 23 on the lever 17 bears, in one direction only, on a lever 21 loose on the spindle 18, and operated by a slot 14 on the motor-control lever 13. Before re-setting the emergency brake, therefore, the driver must apply the motion brake, thus lowering the arm 21, and bring the motor-control lever 15 into neutral position, thus lowering the lever 17. On moving the lever 11 for re-setting the emergency brake, the sector 12 engages the end of the lever 17 holding it in the lowered position, so that the levers 13, 15 are locked until the lever 11 is returned to the position shown. The lever 11 is returned to this position by a weight &c., while the emergency brake remains in the set position, and owing to the shape of the slots 14, 16, the levers 13, 15 can now be moved independently for re-starting and controlling the winding-engine. As shown in Fig. 3, the lever 19 and slot 16 are replaced by the toothed gear 36, 39 and locking disc 38.
