Abstract

357,371. Screw fans. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, and SAUNDERS, N. F. T., of General Electric Co., Witton, Birmingham. Sept. 24, 1930, No. 28613. [Class 110 (i).] A ventilating fan for use on a table or ceiling has a casing which is divergent on the outlet side and convergent on the inlet side. The fan 12 with blades of the propeller type is driven by an electric motor 15 supported on a pillar 4 inside the casing. Bars 5 extend across the opening of the inlet part 1, and the front edge of the diverging part 2 carries a boss 7 which is adjustably secured to the base plate 10 by means of spindles 11 passing through lugs 8. The fan casing may be locked in position by means of nuts 9. The curves given by axial sections of the casing as shown in Fig. 3 are exponential curves. The casing may be employed in combination with an oscillating fan constructed as described in Specification 209,530, [Class 110 (i), Centrifugal and screw fans &c.].
