Abstract
357,253. Corsets. DEBENHAMS, Ltd., 91, Wimpole Street, London, and ZILVA, G., The Mount, Mays Hill Road, Shortlands, Kent. June 21, 1930, Nos. 18996/30 and 5448/31. [Class 141.] A corset. like garment is provided with a flat vertically s t i f - fened front panel in the region of the wearer's diaphragm or abdomen, or both, to the sides of which panel are attached horizontal straps or webs adapted to be detachably secured at their free ends to the garment to apply inward pressure to the panel. The panel may be made in one piece d, as shown, or divided down the centre, and is stiffened by relatively short vertical stiffeners or steels f inserted in pockets e in the corset. The straps or webs h may be inextensible or elastic and may be secured to one or more triangular flaps g on the sides of the panel d to distribute the pull. Stiffeners m may be provided under the armpits. The flaps g may be of skeleton form so that the straps h may be worn uncrossed, or they nay be crossed when the garment is in position and then fastened. The garment may be combined with an under-garment or garments such as a but-bodice or brassiÚre, knickers, slip, or petticoat, and the back of the corset portion may be .made higher than the front and a front bodice portion united at each side to the back of the corset portion from near the waist line up to the top.
