Abstract
357,144. Copying-telegraphy. HARRIES, J. H. O., Shirley, Old Road, Frinton-on-Sea. June 16, 1930, No. 18359. [Class 40 (iii).] In copying telegraphy, the centre of interest of the picture is scanned more finely than the remainder. The picture drum 1, Fig. 1, is rotated and the scanning device 2 is traversed by a lead screw of which the centre portion 4 has a finer thread that the outer portion 3. Gearing 5, 6 allows the lead screw to be adjusted so that the finely-scanned area may be adjusted over the picture. The drum 1, Figs. 2 and 3, is driven by an eccentric cam 10 driven by a pinion 8 from a constantly-rotating gear 9. This arrangement allows the drum to be more slowly rotated over one portion. Adjustment of the position of the pinion 8 is effected by gearing 13, 14. In order to adjust the scanning spot, an iris diaphragm 15, Fig. 4, is closed or opened under the action of a cam arm 17 moving in a cam slot 19, so that the beam of light 16 is suitably adjusted. Specification 357,143 is referred to.
