[Class 39 (iii).] In seam welding wherein the current is conducted to the work b by a contact m arranged slidably thereon and connected to the welding head f, the contact is arranged before and in line with the weld and at a distance from the arc that may be adjusted so that the resultant magnetic field counteracts the tendency of the arc to wander in the direction of the welding bead. The contact m is connected to a member h slidably mounted on a rod g attached to the welding head.
