Abstract
355,165. Disc brakes. SOC. ANON. DES. ATELIERS D'AVIATION L. BREGUET, 115, Rue de la Pompe, Paris. Jan. 9, 1931, No. 830. Convention date, Jan. 17, 1930. [Class 103 (i).] Relates to operating means for internal disc brakes of aeroplane wheels of the type in which the section of the wheel by a plane along the axle has the shape of two opposed X's. The brake comprises discs or rings 7 secured to the wheel axle 6 by leaf springs 8 which tend to hold the rings away from the wheel parts 3 into contact with which they may be forced by a lever 9 pivoted on one ring and connected to the other by a link 10. The lever 9 is operated by a member 13 slidable in the axle 6 and screwed into a socket-piece 14 which can be turned to effect adjustment for wear of the brake rings by a tool inserted in openings 15, the member 14 being locked against rotation after adjustment by a removable key 16. The members 13, 14 can be moved longitudinally to apply the brake by mechanical means or as shown by a piston 17 in a cylinder 18 supplied with pressure fluid by pipe 19. A wing nut 20 by which the wheel and axle are secured to the struts of the aeroplane serves also to secure the cylinder 18 with its casing to the axle 6.
