Abstract
354,536. Stropping-apparatus. AKTIEBOLAGET ORYG, Gothenburg, Sweden. July 29, 1930, No. 22875. Convention date, July 5. [Class 60.] Stropping-apparatus for razor or other blades consists of a box 1 within which a double-edged blade is pivotally carried, and a lid 3, slidable on the box: and carrying a stropping-surface 5 which moves across the blade edges. The stropping-surface is carried by a plate 6 supported in the lid by springs 7 and the lid has flanges 4 engaging guide flanges 2 on the box, the movement of the lid in one direction being limited by a part 8 depending therefrom, and in the other direction by lugs 9, which engage spring-pressed pins 10 carried by a sleeve 12. The strop engages a roller 21 journalled. in the box and connected by gearing 17..20 to a blade-holder 14 pivoted in the box and consisting of a flat plate with spring tongues 16 under which. the blade engages. The blade-holder has projecting arms 22 of which one or the other normally runs in a depression in the plate 6, and by co-operation with an inclined surface at the end of the depression serve to turn the blade over when the strop is drawn clear thereof; a ratchet disc 26 on the holder and a spring pawl 27 prevent movement of the holder and blade before the strop is in operative position. In a modification the lid has longitudinally inclined parts on its flanges to engage extensions of the pivots of the blade-holder, and so to move the blade transversely during the stropping. A razor frame 30 may be held in the box by clips 28, 29, and a container 31 for blades is formed in the box.
