Abstract
In a process for preparing cassiterite ores and the like for concentration, of the kind wherein the surface of the ore particles is metallized by reduction by means of hydrogen, the hydrogen is generated in the pulp by means of zinc alloyed with a small proportion of tin, for example under 1 per cent, or coated with a small proportion of tin precipitated on the zinc from solution. The concentration may be effected simultaneously with or subsequently to the reduction treatment, by flotation or by an electrical method such as one depending on dielectric constant or hysteresis.
