Abstract
353,611. Edge-runner grinding or crushing mill. SMEDLEY BROS., Ltd. and SMEDLEY, D. A., Eagle Iron Works, Belper, Derbyshire. June 2, 1930, No. 16944. [Class 59.] In an edge-runner mill having a revolving pan in which the framework is of girder construction, the framework comprises a lower frame of rolled steel channels 10, 12, 13, 14, supporting a pan 15 and standards 23 supporting an upper rectangular frame 22, 25, 27. A bridge-piece 30 is fitted across the upper frame to carry a bearing 29 for the pan spindle 26, and a gap bridged by a channel member 33, may be provided in the side member 22 for the removal of the shaft 26 and bearing. Scrapers 38, 41, attached to the framework, are adjustable towards the pan, the scraper 38 being provided with a tailpiece.40 of reduced depth which defects large and heavy pieces under the runners. The runner shaft 34 is guided between vertically arranged angle-irons 36. The members 10 may be extended to carry an electric motor 18. In a modification the members 10 are extended to carry road wheels, a forecarriage having a draw-bar and being constructed of angle &c. steel being pivoted to the frame 10.
