Abstract

421,670. Edge-runner mills. WHITTAKER & CO., Ltd., C., and WHITTAKER, N., Dowry Street Ironworks, Accrington, Lancashire. Sept. 11, 1933, No. 25048. [Class 59] In an edge-runner mill the ground material leaves the table through the gap left between an adjustable rim C and the imperforate rotating plate A. The roller B bears on the revolving disc or plate A, Fig. 3, and the crushed material moves outwardly by centrifugal force and is discharged through a gap a formed between an adjustable rim C and the upper surface or edge of the disc A. Material which is too large to pass through the gap a is returned to the rollers by either separate scrapers or by the inturned ends G, Fig. 1, of the two-part plate C. The crushed material falls onto a revolving or stationary annular ring F and is removed therefrom by fixed or revolving scrapers.
