Abstract

353,542. Bowden mechanism. ARENS CONTROLS, Ltd., 14, Regent Street, and CLARKE, F. A., 72, Upper Tulse Hill, both in London. May 1, 1930, No. 13437. [Class 80 (iii).] In devices of the kind having a wire and sheath for transmitting tensions and compressions respectively, the sheath is housed in a groove 22 in the hub 15 of a handle member, the end of the wire being attached to an end piece 31 which may be adjustable in position round the rim. In the form shown in Fig. 3 the end of the sheath 35 abuts on the nipple 31, or on the end of an adjustable sleeve screwed into the nipple. A rigid or flexible casing 26 is clamped as shown by a screw 24. The adjustable sleeve may be screwed into a spoke 45 of the handle member, and locked by a nut 52 as shown in Fig. 8. Application of the device to ships' telegraph signalling apparatus is mentioned.
