Abstract

353,106. Filters. TOMLINSON, A. E., Hieronslea, Duffield Road, Little Eaton, Derbyshire. May 2, 1930, No. 13526. [Class 46.] Mixed liquid and solid matter is supplied through a nozzle or pipe 7 on to the inside of a filter belt 1 and the liquid separates and filters through the belt at the parts where the belt passes round pulleys or drums 2, 3, the separation being aided by centrifugal force. The matter retained by the belt is removed by a scraper or plough 11. The belt may be sufficiently wide and a wide scraper or more than one scraper provided so that the retained matter is returned by the scraper to a different strip of the belt and thus subjected to repeated treatment. The liquid passing through the belt is received in a collector 10. An external drum may be provided instead of' or in addition to the scraper. Apparatus having a drum 30 which causes the retained matter to fall on to a guide 38 in shown in Fig. 5. A roller 40 assists in directing this matter on to the guide. The drums may be arranged with their axes vertical.
