385,365. Filters. POWLEY & SONS, Ltd., R. and POWLEY, W., 5, Handel Street, Sunderland. Sept. 18, 1931, No. 26198. [Class 46.] Filtering apparatus, which is particularly applicable for treating water from bottlewashing machines, comprises an endless band a of metal gauze or other filtering material, presenting a substantially horizontal top run, and a filter tray e or a rotary drum or other form of filtering medium or a number of superposed filtering media, disposed within a container d between the top and bottom runs of the band. Liquid delivered by a spout c is thus subjected to repeated filtration, the filtrate being discharged through an outlet d<1>. The solid matter is removed from the band by jets of water from a pipe g<1>, directed parallel to an inclined portion a<1> of the return run. The wash water falls on to a filter tray h which retains the foreign matter. The top run of the endless band may be slightly inclined upward in the direction of its movement. The apparatus as shown is provided with a supplementary filter tray i. Specification 266,615, [Class 46, Filter. ing &c.], is referred to in the Provisional Specification.
