Abstract
352,726. Lubricating. STRADLING, A., 132, Market Place, Cirencester, Gloucestershire. July 5, 1930, No. 20413. [Class 12 (iii).] Lubricant is led to an inaccessible part of a machine through a bent tube 10, the outer end of which is a tight fit but capable of rotation in the bore of a tubular screw 9 threaded in a part of the machine and adapted to be supplied with lubricant from a gun through a nipple 11. The part of the tube within the screw is of smaller diameter and the outer end is splayed within a tapered recess in the head of the screw, whereby the tube cannot be removed or detached from the screw. The tube is turned until its inner end is in the required position and is then fixed by distorting a portion of the splayed end into the cross-cut in the head of the screw. For supplying lubricant to the oil cup 4 of the clutch ring of a motor vehicle, the screw 9 serves as one of the fastening screws for the usual plate 5 covering an aperture in an extension 6 of the gear casing and provided with a window 12.
