Abstract
351,695. Vertical boilers. HARTLEY & SUGDEN, Ltd. and WIGNALL, N., Gibbet Street, Halifax, Yorkshire. May 27, 1930, No. 16261. [Class 123 (ii).] In T-shaped boilers for heating or steaming purposes having a horizontal steam and water drum A surmounting a vertical water - jacketed firebox D, both the inner and outer shells of the firebox are secured to the cylindrical portion of the drum and apertures a are formed in the drum in registration with the space between the inner and outer shell of the firebox. Flow and return-tubes B may be provided so that furnace gases may be diverted by a baffle H in the smoke box through the tubes into a casing J and return through upper tubes to a chimney K. Or the gases may pass through the tubes in one direction only. The apertures a are cut in the drum shell at different levels.
