Abstract

351,656. Stretching webs transversely. MASCHINENFABRIK BENNINGER AKT.-GES., Uzwil, Switzerland. May 5, 1930, No. 13768. Convention date, May 6, 1929. [Class 100 (i).] A device for stretching fabrics transversely comprises a series of driven rollers of the type comprising individual roller elements mounted upon a curved shaft, the curvature of the rollers decreasing from the entrance to the delivery end of the device. As shown, the first six rollers A .. F have the same curvature and the last three rollers H, J, K are of equal curvature which is less than that of the rollers A .. F. Between the rollers F, H is a roller G having a curvature which is the mean of the curvatures of the other rollers. The roller G is provided with conical driving gears R and the other rollers with spar gears S. Instead of a single intermediate roller G, a group of three rollers of decreasing curvature may be employed, and instead of employing groups of rollers of equal curvature, one group of rollers, the curvature of which decreases regularly, may be used.
