Abstract
349,649. Cleaning conveyer belts and like surfaces. SPENCER (MELKSHAM), Ltd., Melksham, Wiltshire, and PHILIP, W. L., Westwood, Lansdown, Bath, Somerset. March 4, 1930, No. 7113. [Class 19.] Conveyer belts or like surfaces are cleaned by brushing apparatus in the form of endless bands carrying sets of bristles and moving relatively to the belt or like surface. The removal of any substances tending to clog the brush is assisted by the opening out of the bristles as the endless band passes around its supporting rollers, and by the provision of metal plates or flickers against which the bristles engage. As shown, applied to a conveyer belt g, an endless band a carrying bunches of bristles b moves, transversely to the belt, over rollers c, d. The roller c is driven by chain-and-sprocket and bevel gearing or other transmission mechanism from the conveyer. Metal plates h engage the bristles preferably at some such position as is indicated in the drawing, at which the bristles are spread apart by passage over the roller c. The lower part of the brush may pass through a receptacle containing cleansing liquid. A metal shoot or other collecting means may be provided for the waste material.
