Abstract
349,163. Chain armour for pneumatic tyres. DESCARRIE, A., 314, Rosedale Street, Montreal, Canada. March 6, 1930, No. 7429. [Class 144 (ii).] A chair link for connecting the cross chains of a tyre chain or the like to the side chains comprises a U-shaped connecting member, the ends of which are bent over parallel to the sides to form hooks at an angle to the plane of the member, the hooks being parallel and in an opposite sense, the sides of the member being bent together at points just below the ends of the hooks and the points being in transverse alignment so as to close the bight of the U-shaped member. As shown, the bent ends are first inserted and turned so that the bent ends engage the link 1 of the side chain after which the U-shaped member is contracted below the bent ends at 7, thus being locked in place. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 10899/06, [Class 144, Wheels &c.], 1916/10 and 192,135, [both in Class 144 (ii), Wheel tyres, Pneumatic &c.].
