Abstract
361,673. Tread chains ; endless tracks. KENNEDY, D. S., Harewood Forest Works, Longparish, Hampshire. Dec. 24, 1930, Nos. 38877/30 and 16073/31. [Class 144 (ii).] The shoes of tread chains for use on single or tandem wheels are each formed from one piece of metal with a transverse corrugation b extending across the main tread portion a and down the side walls a<1> of the shoe. The corrugations, especially on the portion a, may be formed with one or more apertures b<1>, preferably with flanged edges b<2> to increase the grip between the tyre and the shoes. Studs or strakes c may be fitted on the part a alongside the corrugation b. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the sides a<1> of the shoes are provided with blocks a<O> on which the connecting-links are pivoted. In the modification shown in Fig. 8, the connecting- links are pivoted to the bifurcated ends of channelplates g recessed into the shoes. Fig. 5 shows a further modification in which the sides of the shoe are formed of channel section to receive the connecting-links.
