Abstract

348,208. Freezing fish &c. ROBERTSON, D., 109, Alleyn Park, Dulwich, London. Feb. 14, 1930, No. 5036. [Class 29.] A fish &c. cooling-chamber through which cold brine &c. is circulated is provided with a side 2 adapted to be moved at right-angles to the chamber and having a carrier 6 for perforated fish cases. A liquidtight joint is maintained between the side and the chamber by pneumatic beading 19, Fig. 3. The brine is circulated through the chamber by a pump 23 connected to a brine storage tank 21 and a cooler 25 which communicates through a pipe 26 with a main 27. The main is connected by a pipe 28 to perforated pipes in the upper part of the chamber and to a pipe 31 connected to the bottom of the chamber. The pipe 31 facilitates the initial flooding of the chamber. After the flooding the brine is circulated downwardly through the chamber and through a pipe bend 33 to the storage tank. After cooling, water or sea water is passed through the chamber from a pipe 60 to a drain 61 to glaze the fish. The cooling-chambers 1, Fig. 5, may be arranged on a trawler either between a coal bunker c and a fish storage hold e or on deck beneath the wheelhouse 50.
