Abstract

347,786. Water-tube steam boilers. WAGNER, R., 105, Bismarckstrasse, Hamburg, Germany. Feb. 14, 1930, No. 4959. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Dec. 19, 1930.] [Class 123 (ii).] A single drum boiler comprises U-shaped tubes 2 connected at their upper ends to a steam and water drum 4 and interconnected at their lower ends by tubular junction-pieces 7 allowing the free passage of gases between the ends of the tubes. The junction-pieces are connected to a collector 9 arranged outside the boiler walls. The tubes may be formed with their limbs remote from the furnace of larger internal diameter than the limbs adjacent to the furnace. Each U-tube may be formed in two pieces secured together and to the junction-pieces by screwed joints or by welding, or each may be formed in one piece and connected together at their lower ends by short junction-pieces welded to the tubes.
