Abstract
347,115. Mangles and wringers. CLEAVER, A., 45, Tennyson Road, Small Heath, Birmingham. Jan. 21, 1930, Nos. 2022 and 3840. [Class 138 (ii).] In a wringer or mangle which is adjustably clamped to a vertical or horizontal support there is provided a hinged deflector plate g which may be folded upwardly to enclose the front of the rollers. The deflector may be hinged to brackets which are screwed to the standards of the machine, or troughshaped brackets which slide on projections on the standards may be secured to the deflector. The upper lip b<1>, Fig. 2, of the deflector is arranged to lie behind the front lip p of an open fronted casing o that extends beneath and behind the lower roller e. The feed or discharge board q is provided with upwardly cranked side arms s and with folding stays t whereby it may be folded upwardly to enclose the back of the rollers. The other board may be provided with cranked trough-shaped arms which slide upon ribs on the machine standards so as to be removable bodily therefrom. The clamps comprise relatively and angularly adjustable members v, y, Fig. 3, of which the member y is rotatable about a vertical spigot wand is retained by a set screw x which engages a groove x<1> in the spigot.
