[Class 47 (ii).] A discharge fitting for a fire hose comprises a flexible metal tube 12 which is connected to the usual nozzle tip 10 by a union 13, and to a hose by a coupling 14. The tube 12 is spirally wound, having internal helical grooves, and is of a uniform internal diameter substantially equal to that of the tip. A U-section shoe 11 of the shape shown is pivoted to the union and the coupling, and has at its rear end racks 22 by which it can be locked to the coupling 14, by means of a pin 19, in various positions of adjustment. Thus, the nozzle can be bent to a greater or less extent, the tip 10 being at right-angles to the coupling 14 when the flexible tube 12 is seated fully in the shoe. The fitting is intended particularly for use in attacking fires in cellars and like inaccessible positions. For suspending the hose, for example in a hole in a floor, Fig. 8, the coupling 14 is connected to a length of rigid pipe 26 which is connected to a hose by a swivel coupling 27. A ring 23 on the coupling 14 carries a chain 24 secured to a cross-bar 25 adapted to lie across the hole. A handle 28 is provided on the pipe 26 for turning the nozzle in any desired direction.
