Abstract

555,736. Nozzles. BECKER, C. F., and RIEPLING, H. G. March 2, 1942, No. 2730. [Classes 69 (iii) and 135] A nozzle for fire extinguishing &c. of the kind comprising an inner tube for delivering a jet of liquid surrounded by an outer movable tube member through which a spray is delivered and having a valve forming part of the nozzle for directing more or less liquid through the inner and outer tubes, is provided with a tapering cone 49 between the inner tube 41 and movable member 56 for directing liquid on to a bead 51 on the front of the inner tube. The cone 49 carries at its outer end a gasket 61 between it and the outer tube. The conical outer tube merges into a substantially straight outlet 57 to engage the bead 51. A body 11 for. attachment to a hose pipe carries a valve casing 17 to which the tubular jet 41 is screwed. To the body 11 is secured the cone 49 which is externally screwed to receive movable member 56 outward movement of which may be limited by an annular rib 58 and a screw 59. The member 41 may carry a helix 48 by which liquid is whirled and delivered into the passage between the members 41, 49. Liquid to the jet 41 may be regulated by a plug cock 24 having formed on it a squared part 27 engaged by a swivel member 28 and operated by a bifurcated handle 32 one branch of which is screwed to the member 28 and the other screwed to a ring 37 mounted to rotate coaxially with the swivel 28.
