Abstract
346,233. Lubricating - connections. CLERGET, P., 38, Rue Boileau, Paris. July 2, 1930, No. 20114. Convention date, July 5, 1929. [Class 12 (iii).] A fluid - tight connection between a lubricant passage 5 in a stationary member 4 and a passage 6 in a rotating and longitudinally-movable shaft 1 is effected by means of telescopicallyengaging hollow sockets 7, 8 having spherical end walls 9, 10 engaging correspondinglyshaped recesses in the ends of the members 4, 1, the walls having ports 17, 18 registering with the passages 5, 6 and of a diameter smaller than that of the interior of the sockets. The pressure of the lubricant flowing thus maintains the walls 9, 10 in close contact with the ends of the members 4, 1. A cup-leather may be fitted to the inner socket 8. A spring 11 maintains the contact when the pressure of the lubricant is relieved. Relative rotation between the two sockets is prevented by a pin-andslot connection 13, 14. Grooves 16 in the ends 9, 10 provide for the lubrication thereof.
