Abstract

345,919. Haymaking. BIGGS, F. D., Old Hall, Groby, Leicestershire, and NICHOLSON, A. C., Trent Iron Works, Newark, Nottinghamshire. Aug. 27, 1930, No. 25513. [Class 6 (iii).] In a combined side-delivery rake and swathturner of the type in which two eccentrically mounted rotary heads 4 are connected by bars 1 with depending tines, a central group of tines from each bar being detached when the machine is to be used as a swath-turner, a guard comprising a vertical plate 9 is arranged in the gap thus formed between the two sets of tines 1a, 1b, and a stripper member 11 is provided in the space between the tines 1b and the guard so as to extend below the axis of rotation of the tine bars 1. The member may be formed by a single stripper bar detachably fitted into socket members on the usual stripper board 8 or a pair of spaced bars, the one nearest to the guard having its end curved upwards, may be riveted or otherwise secured to an horizontal plate portion extending from the plate 9. The outer bar may diverge from and be nearer to the ground than the inner. In a modification a sheet-metal member extending from the plate 9 forms the stripping device.
