13,029. Nicholson, A. C. Sept. 11. Haymaking.-A combined swath - turner and side-delivery rake, of the type in which the raking- tines are mounted on bars connected to and controlled by eccentric rotary spiders, has a few of the tines at one or both ends of the bars made removable from action when swath-turning in addition to some of the middle tines. In the example shown, the sections A, C, E can be readily removed, leaving the sections B, D for use as swath-turners. Section A or section E, which sections are removed during swath-turning to prevent fouling the outside swath and carrying the swath turned by section D too far across the machine respectively, may be omitted in cases where it is desired to reduce the width of the machine. A vertical guard is used to prevent the swath turned by one set of tines from fouling the other set while swath-turning.
