Abstract
497,804. Haymaking. MARTIN'S CULTIVATOR CO., Ltd., and JONES, T. M. July 29, 1937, No. 21025. [Class 6 (iii)] To reduce the width of a side-delivery rake or side-delivery rake and swath-turner of the type in which rake bars, pivotally secured at each end to eccentric reels or flyers, have auxiliary rakes projecting at the ends of the main rake, each auxiliary rake is connected to the main rake bar by parallel links, the bar, in taking up its retracted position, being swung inwardly on the links. Each flyer arm 8 has a pivot pin 9 extending into a bearing 10 secured to a casting 11 carrying the main rake bar 12. The auxiliary rake bar 14, provided with tine carriers 15, is attached to the main bar by parallel links 13 and in both its extended and retracted positions has its vertical flange positioned within a slot 19 in the casting 11 and if desired in a corresponding slot in an extra lug 20 extending down from the bar 12. To look the auxiliary rake in its two positions inclined key-hole slots 21 are formed in the casing 11 and in the lug 20 into which a pin 22 fixed on the bar 14 passes, being held in these slots by a spring-pressed tube 23 on the pin entering the widened part of the slots 21. A cam or a bolt may be used to retain the bar in position instead of the pin and slots.
