Abstract

In a modification of the process of the parent Specification matt surfaces are produced on yarns or fabrics of cellulose esters or ethers by impregnating the material with an aqueous solution of urea, drying, and steaming. A water-soluble aliphatic acid or a salt thereof, e.g. glycollic or lactic acid or their sodium salts, may be added to the bath to assist the action of the urea. The dyeing of the material may be effected simultaneously with the impregnation. The following examples are specified. (1) The material is impregnated or padded at 50 DEG C. in a bath consisting of an aqueous solution of urea, centrifuged, dried, steamed for 20-30 mins., washed, and dried. (2) The material is treated as in (1) with the addition of glycollic acid or sodium glycollate to the impregnating bath.
